The one country which does not ever publish any data to go on continues to be China which, despite drastic improvements in all aspects of the economy and the living standards, just simply chooses to keep its tea industry firmly behind a self imposed bamboo curtain so that very little tangible information filters out. Which then means that one is left with no choice but to extrapolate data. Information, which I consider suspect, provides the following crop related information till 2014.

Extrapolating this 10% growth into 2015, would put this seasons outrun at approximately 2,300 KMT. While this may be something to go on, it would be best to take this figure with a pinch of salt. That having been said, information collected would indicate that the area under tea is on the rise which factor, coupled with better agricultural practices, could well add up to the above.
With pressure on the export front building up on account of stricter MRL controls, the domestic market which has always called the shots continues to rule the roost with consumers within China willing to pay top dollar for their preferred tea, buying teas at prices which are simply not matched nor expected internationally.
